I have read Artos and Russian Roulette and loved both of those novels. They were books I found it hard to put down and think you will enjoy them.

Russian Roulette
Synopsis: Sam Kantor is a far stretch from Chandler and Hammett's concept of the private eye. He is more likely to solve his case by accident rather than design. But somehow, he manages to come up with the solution. Sam's latest case starts off innocently enough. Sam is hired to accompany a client to deliver a package. But when Sam is knocked unconscious and his client turns up dead in Sam's office, the trail becomes like a Matryoshka doll. Each lead he uncovers reveals another within. Sam tracks down members of a poker club who have been bankrolling the sale of stolen Russian icons. When two of them are murdered, Sam becomes a suspect. He escapes a shooting and being blown up, before being offered partnership in a narcotics business. With every step, Sam is drawn inexorably towards the quicksand, until the final moment when the sands threaten to close over him.
